Klixo Bleeds Blue: Michigan Football, Penn State, and Why Ohio State Is Still the Worst School in America

Some rivalries are bigger than football. Some allegiances run deeper than business. And some schools just happen to be located in Columbus, Ohio.

At Klixo, we believe in competitive intelligence, smart strategy, understanding your opponents, and using every available advantage to win.

Which brings us to an important announcement.

Klixo bleeds BLUE.

Not metaphorically. Not occasionally. Not just when Michigan is winning.

Maize and Blue. Go Blue. Hail to the Victors. The whole thing.

And as the Michigan Wolverines prepare to welcome Penn State to the Big House this Saturday, October 17, we figured it was time to temporarily put down the marketing reports and discuss something considerably more important.

College football.

More specifically, Michigan football.

And, naturally, why Ohio State is the worst school ever established.

We'll get to that.

1. Penn State Is Coming to the Big House. Welcome to Ann Arbor.

There are college football stadiums.

And then there's Michigan Stadium.

More than 100,000 fans, one enormous bowl of Maize and Blue, and an atmosphere that reminds visiting teams that Ann Arbor isn't necessarily the most welcoming place to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Michigan enters Saturday's matchup at 3-2, while Penn State arrives at 3-3. Both programs are searching for their first Big Ten conference victory of the season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

Let's acknowledge something.

Neither team has exactly delivered a flawless season.

But that's what makes college football interesting. You don't abandon the brand because one quarter goes wrong. You adjust the strategy, study the competition, and come back stronger.

That's literally what we do at Klixo.

Except our clients generally prefer that we don't tackle their competitors.

2. What Michigan Football Can Teach You About Marketing

Believe it or not, Michigan football is one of the greatest examples of brand loyalty in American sports.

Think about it.

Generations of families wear the same colors. Alumni organize their weekends around football games. Children learn the fight song before they understand what a first down is.

Michigan doesn't have to reinvent its identity every Saturday.

It knows exactly who it is.

And that's something businesses should pay attention to.

Great brands are built through consistency, emotional connection, shared experiences, and a recognizable identity.

Apple has its bitten apple. Nike has the Swoosh.

Michigan has the Block M.

You don't need an explanation when you see it.

The best marketing works the same way.

Your customers should recognize what you stand for without needing to read three paragraphs of website copy.

Which is why we're proud to say that Klixo is AI-powered, human-led, and unapologetically Maize and Blue.

3. Penn State, We Respect You. But Not That Much.

Penn State is a legitimate football program with a proud tradition, passionate alumni, and a fan base that knows how to create an atmosphere.

We respect that.

We also respectfully request that the Nittany Lions leave Ann Arbor with a loss.

Nothing personal.

Just business.

Michigan's defense enters Saturday ranked among the nation's strongest, sitting third in total defense according to the university's game preview.

That's the kind of competitive advantage we appreciate.

And while Michigan's offense has experienced some growing pains this season, there's nothing like a Saturday at home to remind everyone what this program represents.

Besides, if marketing has taught us anything, it's that sometimes you need a strong product relaunch.

Saturday would be an excellent time for one.

4. Now, About That School in Ohio.

We tried to keep this article professional.

We really did.

But somewhere approximately 190 miles south of Ann Arbor sits an institution that insists on calling itself THE Ohio State University.

THE.

As if adding a definite article makes a university more important.

Imagine if Klixo started introducing itself as THE Marketing Agency.

We wouldn't do that.

We're modest.

Unlike certain people who wear red and gray and voluntarily live in Columbus.

Let's clarify Klixo's official position.

We believe in healthy competition. We believe in respecting our opponents. We believe every organization deserves an opportunity to succeed.

Except Ohio State.

They've had enough opportunities.

We're kidding, of course.

Mostly.

Ohio State could develop the greatest marketing campaign in human history, and we'd still have questions about the color scheme.

Scarlet and gray?

Really?

That's what the committee came up with?

At Klixo, we conduct competitor intelligence to help businesses understand what their rivals are doing.

In the case of Ohio State, we've completed our research.

Findings: They're still Ohio State.

Additional analysis unnecessary.

5. The Marketing Lesson: Give People Something to Believe In

All jokes aside, there's a reason college football inspires this kind of loyalty.

It connects people to something bigger than a product, a transaction, or even a Saturday afternoon.

Michigan fans don't support the Wolverines exclusively because of the scoreboard.

They support Michigan because of family traditions, childhood memories, alumni relationships, and the feeling of belonging to a community.

That's brand equity.

And it's something every business should aspire to create.

Your customers may initially choose you because of your pricing, technology, product, or services.

But lasting relationships require something more.

They need a reason to identify with your brand.

At Klixo, we're building a company that combines technology, creativity, curiosity, and just enough personality to remind people that marketing shouldn't feel like talking to a spreadsheet.

We take our work seriously.

Ourselves? Not always.

And during football season, we're definitely not pretending to be neutral.

6. The Klixo Prediction

Here's what we want to see Saturday.

Michigan establishes its defense early, finds some rhythm offensively, and reminds Penn State why playing inside the Big House is different from watching it on television.

We'd love a comfortable victory.

We'll accept an ugly victory.

We'll even accept a last-second victory that causes everyone wearing Maize and Blue to question their blood pressure.

A win is a win.

And regardless of what happens, Klixo will be right back here supporting Michigan.

Because loyalty isn't seasonal.

And neither is our dislike for Ohio State.

The Klixo Perspective: Know Your Competition. Love Your Brand. Beat Ohio State.

Whether you're running a football program or growing a small business, success requires understanding your competitive environment.

Study your opponents. Recognize your strengths. Identify opportunities. Execute with purpose.

That's how we approach marketing.

It's also how we'd approach Saturday's matchup if anyone in Ann Arbor happens to need an extremely enthusiastic marketing agency.

As for Ohio State, we wish them all the success in the world.

Just not in football.

Or basketball.

Or really anything involving Michigan.

Klixo Bleeds Blue. Always Has. Always Will.

GO BLUE! 〽️

Your Competitors Have a Game Plan. Do You?

At Klixo, we combine AI-powered market intelligence with human-led strategy to help businesses understand their competition, identify opportunities, and win where it matters.

Unlike Ohio State, we actually encourage people to think.
